Four members of the team at Conrad Consulting were selected to go on a trip of a lifetime to UGANDA to volunteer with an ongoing Charity project to build, renovate and improve current educational sites in villages in and around the town of Jinja, Uganda.
Carl, Shawn, Elliott and Julie all had to begin by arranging fundraising events in the UK to raise awareness of the project and generate funds to help the continuing development of schools.
Here's what Julie had to say about the trip:
"This trip begun with a long journey, totalling 30 hours of travel time just to get there, but the welcoming committee upon arriving at our designated school was absolutely mind blowing. The children, teachers and builders already on site were so grateful of our time and as it turns out, we were pretty good labourers too..... managing to completely finish painting two large classrooms, both inside and out and then start work on the building site, which was certainly a challenge, particularly in the intense heat. Well done to everyone for not only accepting the challenge to go out to a new country and culture, but for fully emerging yourselves into what has proved to be a life changing experience for not only us, but the children we have now helped provide classroom space for. Many thanks to Graham for allowing four of his staff to travel half way around the world for a week!!! and thanks to the charity Soft Power Education for arranging everything for us, ensuring the trip ran as smoothly as possible from start to finish."
